After having completed "June Jazz On The Grass," I repeated the same four-section formula with Marshmallows in Milk. One additional inspiration was how, a year earlier when I was practicing for the premiere of the aforementioned piece, another person in the practice room next to me was performing Mozart's Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" (K. 265 / K. 300e). The key for Mozart's piece was in C major; the key for "June Jazz" was in F.
