Psalm 121 04:04
verse 1 I lift my eyes up to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Lord who made heaven and earth. chorus God will not allow your foot to slip, He who keeps you will not slumber. Yes, even He who watches o'er His people, He will not fall asleep. verse 2 The Lord He guards you and He gives you shade at hand. He keeps you safe from the sun and from the moon. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil, He shall preserve your soul. chorus God will not allow your foot to slip, He who keeps you will not slumber. Yes, even He who watches o'er His people, He will not fall asleep. bridge The Lord shall preserve your going out and coming in from this time forth forevermore. chorus God will not allow your foot to slip, He who keeps you will not slumber. Yes, even He who watches o'er His people, He will not fall asleep.

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness consider yourself, lest you also be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load. Galatians 6:1-5, New King James Version
3.
Let him who is taught in the Word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap. For he who sows to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good. For in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are in the household of faith. Galatians 6:6-10, New King James Version

Psalm 95 05:01
verse Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. In His hand are the depth of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it and His hands formed the dry land. chorus For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. Come let us bow down in worship. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, flock under His care. For the Lord is the great God. bridge Today if only you would hear His voice: Do not harden your hearts as you did in the wilderness. They tested and quarreled with the Lord their God. They tried Him though they had seen what He did. For forty years I was angry with that generation. I said they are a people whose hearts go astray and they have not known My ways. So I declared on oath in my anger: They shall not enter My rest.

Advent Song 04:50
verse 1 When the Word became flesh, God sent out Gabriel to spread tidings of joy. Zechariah didn’t believe he’d have a child, so Gabriel banned him from speaking. When Gabriel came to Mary and gave her the good news, she went over to Zechariah’s house, and when she did, John leaped, he leaped, he leaped for joy, he leaped, he leaped, he leaped, he leaped for joy, he leaped, he leaped, he leaped, he leaped for joy, ‘cause of Jesus. verse 2 and she said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, for he has looked favorably on me, and blessed me richly. Surely from now on, all will call me blessed, the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy, holy, holy is his Name, holy, holy, holy is his Name, holy, holy, holy is his Name, he’s Jesus.” pre-bridge Then John’s father Zechariah, finally able to speak, spoke: “Blessed be the Lord! He has raised up a Savior just like the prophets foretold!” bridge His mercy is on those who love him, age to age, his mighty arm scatters those with pride in their chests, he strikes down the strong but exalts the humble in heart. He’s remembered his promise to our father Abraham, he saved us from our foes, that we may serve him, he’s lit our path, forgiven us, he’s called us to his purpose. He’s promised to always hold on, he’s never gonna let go of us, for God so loved the world. verse 3 After thirty-three years of life and three years of ministry, they captured him, and although they beat him, and they tortured him, and yes crucified him, he died for us. ‘Cause he was God made flesh, he died and rose again, and he will judge the living and the dead, and he will, he will, he will, he’ll come again, he will, he will, he will, he’ll come again, he will, he will, he will, he’ll come again. He’s Jesus.

Lyrics: Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her, So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax and willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships; she brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is night And provides food for her household And a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it, From her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches her hand to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household. For all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates When he sits among the elders in the land. She makes linen garments and sells them And supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all." Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting, But a woman who fears the Lord, She shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:10-31

about

I’m cleaning house. In many senses of the word, I’m cleaning house. Two years ago, when COVID first hit, "cleaning house” took on a more metaphorical definition: that season of my life, and the next year-and-a-half in particular, included a series of sweeping changes, particularly changes to my various circles, including social, spiritual, and professional. In this season of releasing this album (as well as a few others), I’ve been cleaning house more literally: I’m readying for a move from one town to another, and I’m also readying for a different kind of transition: someday saying goodbye to my Mac which has allowed me to create audio tracks and move them on to Bandcamp. Except for my first, “Fading Purple Sky,” I recorded and mixed every album via GarageBand on my 2011 MacBook Pro, a top-of-the-line laptop when I bought it, but is now a whopping 11 years old. (!!!)

God has indeed been good. Although my praise and worship music output decreased dramatically after the release of “Not Just Salvation But Recovery,” I’ve still written a few (and managed to record them, too!), as well as a few instrumentals that either reflect a topic in the Bible or, in the case of one song, reflect a blessing that God put in my life, for real.

Although I am cleaning house, I have still tried to group compositions together based on commonality, whether of genre, or of theme. Still, I wrestle with balancing the two realities, continuing to hope that my MacBook will indeed last a little while longer. This particular album theme comprises of compositions in which either the text directly comes from Scripture, or the music was inspired by a concept in Scripture, or in which the story behind the piece composed directly points to what God was doing in my life. As such, the idea behind this album is to give God the glory, considering He gave me the gift of writing, performing, and recording music, as well as just enough know-how to mix the tracks to make them sound decent.
