I wrote this piece shortly after taking a counterpoint class back in 2007. Also at that point, I had been listening to lots of Ben Folds' music to where I probably knew at least 50 of his songs really well. The opening piano riff from his most famous song, "Brick," inspired the first half of the opening line to this fugue, largely taken from the Baroque tradition.
If Ben Folds himself ever comes across this song, he can have it. He can even learn to play this himself, if he would like.
This track was created and mixed in GarageBand. I doubled the piano part with two piano patches and added a bass guitar line or two for effect.
