Much of life seems to be caught in this place: missing, desiring, yearning for something, but never really receiving it. After disappointment upon disappointment, the energy is gone. There's a sense that what is longed for will never arrive, and all that is left within oneself is barely enough to carry on with things as they are.
Such times are true tests of character, of patience, of endurance. What's left at this point is knowing that there will someday be a reward for all of this waiting, this enduring, but not yet knowing who, what, where, when, or how.
