There's a saying that goes: "you can't say hello until you learn to say goodbye." Grief is a major part of life, a major consequence of engaging in relationship with one another. Those who do not allow themselves to say goodbye never really made room in the first place to really engage, to connect, to live.
The good news is that while a goodbye is the end of something or someone in particular, it is not the end of relationship altogether. The hope lies in the promises of the next chapter, the next season, the next opportunity. For one never runs out of the such until one reaches the end of his or her life. And even then, if one believes, there is an even greater hope, an even greater promise, after death.
